Launched in 1973, the 2002 Turbo is one of those sports models built by BMW to revitalize its brand image. On the paper, it looks very attractive and original: a bodykit taken from the world of motorsport where BMW made its debut, a Turbo engine on a production model and a very aggressive look. Furthermore, an optional sticker on the front bumper allows those caught up to read “2002 Turbo” in their rear-view mirror! Under the hood, the KKK turbocharger enables the engine to develop 170hp at 800rpm, making the 2002 faster than its German rival! Unfortunately, the oil shock arrived at the same time as the launch of this model. The combination of this situation and the car's high price for the time meant that, after two years of production, only 1,684 units were produced, instead of the 2,000 per year estimated by BMW. This makes the 2002 Turbo a true Unicorn, extremely rare to find in original condition!
